As you can see from the graph to the right, 70% of students spend their money on clothes which suggests to me that I should have a fashion section to my magazine as this is what was most popular, however there are already a lot of fashion magazines so my main focus isn't going to be on fashion. There is going to be a fashion section in the magazine though. Another question that I asked is 'What genre/type of magazine do you read?'. This give me and idea of what students are reading and what is popular and what isn't so popular again fashion/clothes had a large amount of votes however although fashion is clearly a large part of what students life and what they spend their money on gadgets and sports also had a big enough amount of votes for me to notice that students want to know what is going on in sports e.g the championship league games and scores etc and what is happening with the latest phones and ipods.
My college magazine is going to be aimed mainly at the male audience as i feel woman already have a large amount of magazines to ready like 'OK' and there are not a lot of male magazines that talk about sport, technology, music, gaming and general information about the college all in the same magazine. The magazine will be priced at £1.50 as in my research most people would be willing to pay between £1-£2 for a college magazine, so I decided to go in the middle of the two. My magazine is going to be set out in an informal format as most students don't want to reading a magazine which is formal, also most magazines are informal as they appeal to a large audience.
The cover page in my opinion is the main part of my magazine as it needs to be not only eye catching to draw the audience/readers in but it needs to show the readers what they are going to find/be able to read inside the magazine. I am going to try and keep the text to a minimum in the magazine as from the research I done 8/10 students would rather have more pictures and a small informal article.
