This image here represents my target audience. In terms of their demographics my target audience is male and around 15-19. Their occupation is students and they are English. They live with a decent up bringing and so are able to subscribe to magazines and have luxuries like Ipods and the latest clothes etc. They are known as 'mainstreamers' people who wear the latest clothes that everybody is wearing and know all about the latest trends and the newest music, they basically follow everybody else and know all about whats the best thing to wear and what to listen to. I found this out from the audience research I conducted, I handed out questionnaires to random people around my college and I was able to decide who my target audience was and what they liked spending their money on and what they liked doing etc. You can also research what peoples buying habits are, what films they watch and even what their lifestyle choices are these are all demographics. Psychographics is all about peoples minds, its a study of their personalities, attitudes and interests from this I was able to find out what my target audiences attitude was towards chart music and what kind of things they were interested in as I asked them to give me a reason why the chose a certain answer on my questionnaire. I also gave my target audience a reason to subscribe to the magazine, it gives all the latest on the music they like from that month and also has all of the celebrity news that they want to know about. It also gives them a heads up on whats going to be the next big thing and this is what the target audience want as they want to know what the next big thing is so they can keep up their 'mainstream' image. I also put fashion into the magazine to attract my target audience and this is one of the main reasons they are going to buy my magazine, they want to know whats the latest trend and what you should and shouldn't wear so this magazine give them exactly that. I found this out from my audience research from the research I gathered people spent most of their income on clothes, technology (phones, xbox games etc) music, films/cinema and just going out with their friends. With this information I was able to decide what i was going to put into my magazine. Likely places they would shop are River Island, Topman/Topshop places where they have the newest clothes in. My target audience would most probably buy their music off of Itunes and put it straight onto their mp3s so they can make their friends listen etc. 'Mainstreamers' have a very big name in the social standing compared to punks and other social groups the reason for this is because there is just so many of them this is why I made them my target audience as there is a huge market to appeal to. Also even if I only sell the magazine to a few 'Mainstreamers' the magazine will them catch on as it will be the thing to have/buy as they all buy what each other have to be up with the times and trendy. Although I have aimed my product primarily at teenage males which are 'mainstreamers' this magazine is also aimed at teenage females. As they are in the ABC1 category their families have a fair amount of spare income every month, as we would be getting a lot of income from these buyers through subscriptions and general buying in the shop we would then use this money to advertise the magazine even more so be get more and more people buying/subscribing to the magazine. Once we have established a huge fan base that is when we will be getting large amounts of income. The reason I have done this is to again appeal to a wide target audience. Although my magazine looks quite manly and looks like it is made for boys there are also girl parts like on my cover line 'Rihanna interview' this appeals a lot more to girls than it does to boys also fashion isn't just boys fashion it's a mixed set of both female and male clothes however they are all from the same shops so it keeps with the target audience. TV shows are a large part of life however I decided not to include this as none of the participants said they watched TV in their spare time so I decided to leave this out however everybody does watch TV now and then so I thought a good place to advertise would be on TV although it would cost a lot of money it would also reach out to a lot of people and word would spread about the magazine as it would be the new thing to have/buy and with 'mainstreamers' everything is image. I think my target audience is probably one of the best audiences to target as there are just so many of them and this will give me good sales figures. I would advertise everywhere possible to get the word out about the magazine as I would need as many people as possible to find out about the magazine in as short period as possible. So to conclude the audience for my media product would be young, stylish males that are in the social group 'Mainstreamers'.
Good but again here need to have more mention of disposable income levels, product and brand spending, for that crucial advertising revenue stream for you magazine.
